Keeping children safe online
Support for parents and carers to keep children safe online during the pandemic.
The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and lockdown, which has led to the closure of schools has increased the amount of time children spend online significantly. It also means that parents have to not only fulfil their parental roles, but also have become teachers, friends and carers all at the same time. This means that children spend more time online without supervision, making children more vulnerable to increasing levels of predation and risk on the Internet.
As a response, the SafeToNet Foundation in association with Her Majesty’s Government is making free licences to SafeToNet’s safeguarding software available free for life to families of the United Kingdom.
SafeToNet is an app for parents that helps safeguard their children from online risks like cyberbullying and sexting, whilst always respecting the child’s rights to privacy. It also gives children wellbeing exercises to help deal with issues such as stress, fear and anxiety.
